I kinda expected a more colorful response from ducats after reading this line, perhaps SDH, Tell and his gang will chime in tomorrow.

Agreed that 1983 witnessed a renewed sense of space exploration particularly between Weir and Garcia. There are so many great examples of killer space from Live Dead recordings over the years, i've often stated "space is the place".

Check out the "Playin In The Band" space from Laguna Seca July 29, 1988 as Jerry attempts to communicate with the whales in Monterey Bay.
